Dogcraft Head-Mod Summary

A Server Head-Mod (SHM) is a senior staff leader on the Dogcraft server who operates just below the Admins. Their main role is to manage the server staff team, maintain smooth server operations, and make key decisions in coordination with Admins.

Quick Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the server staff team

  • Run server staff meetings, oversee staff hiring, training, promotions, and dismissals

  • Review ban appeals and manage unbans

  • Communicate changes to server staff and the community

  • Decide on server-wide matters like survival world launches, rules, and plugins

  • Ensure staff activity and enforce the 2-hour weekly minimum

  • Work with the DCT Leads on builds, events, and creative inventory support

  • Step in to fulfill Moderator or Chatmod duties when needed

They serve as the bridge between the Server Admin, staff, and the player base ensuring consistency, fairness, and operational integrity across the servers.


Duties of a Server Head Mod 

  • They are the leaders for the community as a whole, but under the Admins and final decision makers of staff management. 

  • Are in charge of making the decisions needed for the server along with the Admins as well as the staff team.

    • Duties include:

      • Being available in general, but most importantly when/if staff need assistance. 

      • Their job is to ensure smooth server operations & administration.

      • Hold server staff meetings and attend interdepartmental meetings

        • make sure to have someone take notes and video of meetings.
      • Delegating the normal duties of staff and also informing staff of any changes made to server moderation

      • Putting out chatmod applications when needed. 

      • Hiring and dismissing staff: Give welcome speeches and train new staff.

      • Promoting/demoting staff. Train staff with their new role. 

      • Reviewing and making decisions on ban appeals (requires all server HMs to attend)

      • Alerting staff if we have unbanned a player.

      • When unbanning a player, coordinate with said player so a SHM can be on the server to take possession of stolen or x-rayed items from the player. Also making sure the player understands the next time they are banned it will be a permanent ban. 

      • Addressing concerns, comments, questions etc from the Liaison Channel and the general staff (if and when we can) 

      • Having meetings with Admins and occasionally Rendog

      • Making decisions with the admins about each new survival world, spawns, plugins, end and launch dates, etc

      • Making announcements to the playerbase (when needed)

      • Making changes to the server rules and punishment guide (if and when needed)

      • Taking note of when staff mention they will not be available for a said amount of time. Sharing this information with other SHMs
      • Making sure staff are on the server for the minimum 2 hours a week, unless said staff have given notice of not being able to uphold the 2 hour a week minimum.  
      • They also communicate changes to the staff and to the playerbase. They work closely together with the Admins and the rest of staff to be able to do so.

        • The Head Mods will let the staff know of changes when it is necessary and appropriate. 
        • Responsible for all duties encompassed by the Chatmod and Moderator roles (if none are online or not available)
  • Taking note of when staff mention they will not be available for a said amount of time. Sharing this information with other SHMs.
  • Making sure staff are on the server for the minimum 2 hours a week, unless said staff have given notice of not being able to uphold the 2 hour a week minimum. 
    • They also communicate changes to the staff and to the playerbase. They work closely together with the Admins and the rest of staff to be able to do so.

      • The Head Mods will let the staff know of changes when it is necessary and appropriate. 

      • Responsible for all duties encompassed by the Chatmod and Moderator roles (if none are online or not available)

  • Moderator Role:

    •  Moderators must understand the rules and how they are implemented on the server

    • Moderators must understand the limits placed on the server in regards to mobs, farms, redstone, etc.

    • Moderators ensure people follow the rules (including punishing if necessary) on the server and help out players with any questions or issues they may encounter. 

    • They work under the Head Mod team authority.

     

  • Duties

      • Responsible for all duties encompassed by the Chatmod role  (if none are online or not available)

      • Communicating with players

        • Recovering of lost items

        • Investigate possible rule infractions (ex. Griefing, theft, x-ray etc.)

        • Responsible for the discipline of players breaking rules

        • Can help players link (if no helpers or chatmods are available OR if the server is experiencing a large influx of new players)

      • Learning and understanding “co” commands

      • Learning and understanding the Punishment guide


    Chatmod Role:

    The duties of chat mods are:


    • Chatmods must understand the rules and how they are implemented on the server

    • Chatmods ensure the chat on the server is kept safe

      • Spam free 

      • PG13

      • Advertising free

      • Watch for private messages that may include players breaking rules. 

    • Help out players with any questions or issues they may encounter. 

    • Chatmods should have a good understanding of the limits placed on the server in regards to mobs, farms, redstone, etc.

    • They Head Mod team authority.

    • Help players when the server is experiencing a large influx of new players

  • Working with the DCT Leads: 

    • Giving materials and/or mini blocks/heads when needed from creative inventory. 

    • Informing the DCTLeads of when new server builds are needed. 

    • Hiring/dismissing DCTLeads as needed. 

    • Being in communication about events to make sure they are not breaking server rules or would be something that upset the player base.
